Combat & Skills
Targeting, skills, Moon Beam, free buffs from Buff Pang and how buffs work in Aerlore.

Fighting in Aerlore works the way the Original does. The changes are mostly about convenience.
Targeting and attacking

- Click a monster to select it and click again to attack. Tab cycles through nearby targets and Z follows your target.
- The target window at the top centre shows the name and level, HP bar, element, buffs and debuffs. The arrow next to the name shows if it's above or below your level. Players 20 or more levels above you show "??". The × clears your target.
- Healing numbers show up in green (you can turn that off in Options → Extras).
Skills
Open the Skill window with K. It has a tab for each job you've had, plus a Passive Skills area for your Master and Hero skills. Spend points, then press Apply. Reset undoes changes you haven't applied yet.
Drag skills onto your action bars. You have three keyboard bars (1-0, Alt+1-0, Ctrl+1-0) and a side bar for the mouse.
- Every class uses the Original's skills. Skill damage, costs and buff durations are the Original's.
- There's one new skill: Moon Beam (below).
- Skill points per level are higher than in the Original (980 total at 150). See Classes & Job Changes.
Moon Beam
Moon Beam is an Aerlore addition. It's in the Assist skill tree (1st job, from level 15), so Assists, Ringmasters, Billposters and their 3rd classes can all learn it.
- A magic attack with a stick, scaled by INT.
- It leaves a bleed that deals damage over 9 seconds.
- The target takes 1% to 8% more damage from everyone while it lasts, depending on skill level.
- 20 levels: MP cost 40 → 60, cooldown 8 s → 3 s.
It gives support players a real way to help a party do damage.
Buffs
- Buffs land on you if your target isn't a player. In the Original you had to clear your target first. In Aerlore, if you've selected a monster, an NPC or a player with a shop open, your buff goes on you.
- The buff bar sits under your status window as a vertical grid. Double-click it to switch to a horizontal row. Icons flash in the last 20 seconds.
Free buffs: Buff Pang
Buff Pang stands in the main towns (Flarine, Saint Morning, Darken and more) and on Coral Island. Talk to her for nine free buffs: Patience, Quick Step, Haste, Cat's Reflex, Cannon Ball, Mental Sign, Heap Up, Beef Up and Accuracy.
| Your level | Buff level | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| 1-60 | Level 7 | 1 hour |
| 61-150 | Level 12 | 1 hour |
Aerlore vs the Original: the Original's helper only buffed level 1-60 characters, at level 7. Aerlore extends it to every level and adds Haste.
Party play
Party EXP, party levels and party skills follow the Original's rules exactly. See Party, Guild & Events.
Dying
Above level 20 you lose some EXP when you die, as in the Original: 6% at 21-29, then a smaller share as you level, down to 1% at 130+. Your EXP can fall to 0%, but you never lose a level. In dungeons, EXP lost to deaths is given back when your group clears the run. See Leveling & Quests.
